Climate Action Plan
UCLA will meet emissions reductions goals 8 years early!
"This Climate Action Plan is a major step in UCLA's commitment to addressing global climate change and sustainability....Accomplishing the identified goals and projects in the next decade will require the participation of the entire university community. All of us have a part to play in addressing global climate change and creating a sustainable future for our children and grandchildren." - UCLA Chancellor Gene Block
The University of California and state legislation set a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020. UCLA's comprehensive Climate Action Plan lays out a plan for the university to achieve that goal ahead of schedule. The plan catalogues the steps the university has taken in the past and contains a detailed financial feasibility analysis for the initiatives that the university will undertake in energy and transportation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
