DESCRIPTION:EARTH DAY LA\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease join us on Saturday\, April 27\, 2019 from 10am to 2pm at Woodley Park as LA Sanitation & Environment holds its fourth annual citywide Earth Day LA event. We have City vehicles for kids to explore\, games to play\, prizes to win\, seeds to plant\, 50+ exhibitors to visit\, and fun for all ages. Michelle Trujillo of Telemundo will once again serve as our Mistress of Ceremonies.  Free beverages\, hot meals\, cold popsicles\, and giveaways are available for all\, while supplies last. All exhibits are all related to City services and sustainability. All of our exhibitors are either government or non-profit. There will be nothing for sale\, but there are plenty of giveaways! Learn how to use recycled water at home\, what items can go in the blue recycling bin\, where to get free mulch\, how to sign up for a free street tree\, and much more! \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCity vehicles to explore\n\nThis is what the kids have been waiting for! LASAN brings out a variety of trucks for kids to explore. Honk horns\, operate the controls\, and see what it’s like to be a collections worker! Additionally\, other City departments will bring vehicles for kids to explore. Don’t forget your camera to capture those smiles!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMascots and live entertainment\n\n\nLA Sanitation’s mascots will be out in full-force. Meet Mr. Recycle\, Tommy TV\, Octo-Clean\, and their good friend\, The Drop. We will also have an enviro-azzi area in the Kids Zone for photographs with our mascots to keep your memories alive until next year’s event. \nThis year we have two stages: the Main Stage and the Kids Pavilion Stage!  OUr Mistress of Ceremonies is once again Michelle Trujillo of Telemundo 32. \n2019 Entertainment Lineup:\nDJ Jorge Nesta\nTaiko Project\nLAPD Cadets – Presentation of the Colors\nJonathan Zari – National Anthem\nGreen Girl Saves the World\nDiscovery Cube LA\nJoyas Divinas Del Valle\nSelenamos \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtwork Competition\n\nLocal elementary schools were invited to participate in our  LASAN Earth Day LA Artwork competition\, open to K-5 students. The artwork had one requirement: to take inspiration from the interpretation of the contest theme “Greening Los Angeles\, Preserving our Future”. Exciting prizes are available to the winners\, and the chosen artwork will be displayed on an active LASAN collection truck in the local neighborhoods. Curious who the winners are? Come by the Main Stage at 11:30am.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFree food and beverage\n\nLASAN staff will be serving lunch and snacks from 10am to 2pm! We have an asian theme this year in honor of our Japanese Garden\, located adjacent to Woodley Pakr. Frozen tropical fruit popsicles\, and cold water will also be available. These treats are free for all\, while supplies last.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKids Zone\n\n\nWho wants to be an LASAN Earth Day Ambassador? The Environmental Learning Center at Hyperion (ELC) will be hosting a Kids Zone for our younger attendees. The Kids Zone offers educational\, engaging game and craft stations to teach children how to protect the environment through everyday sustainable practices. \nBring your children to help understand the City’s work to protect the environment\, learn about the Urban Water Cycle\, begin your own vegetable garden\, and make your very own Earth Day Pledge. Don’t forget to visit the Kids Pavilion Stage to meet our MC for the day\, Carina Zaldivar!
