DESCRIPTION:How to take climate action during the era of the Green New Deal\, Environmental Activism\, and Social Media \nWe are in the midst of a climate emergency. From extreme heat waves to persistent droughts and relentless wildfires\, our region is facing firsthand the consequences of climate change. In response to the mounting crisis\, the city of Los Angeles released a sweeping sustainability plan–known as the L.A. Green New Deal in April 2019. This city-wide initiative is designed to lead Los Angeles towards a low-carbon\, green-energy future by 2050. \nHowever\, these goals are unattainable without support from the L.A. community– especially from our generation. Join young sustainability leaders for an honest discussion on how we can help support the Green New Deal in transforming Los Angeles into one of the first sustainable megacities in the world. \nBe part of an honest conversation with young sustainability leaders about whether or not we think the Green New Deal is enough; and if it is\, what steps can we take to uphold it. \nWednesday\, January 29th 2020  \n7:00-8:30PM \nUCLA Ackerman  \nBruin View Point Room
