DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a discussion with Erin Leonard on how to green the toy industry \nWhen: Thursday February 27 from 2:30-3:30 pm Anderson School Cornell Hall\, Room D-313 \nErin Leonard is Global Sustainability Manager in Supply Chain Governance\, Reporting\, and Compliance at Mattel. She leads the company’s sustainability programs and is responsible for developing and implementing business and environmental goals and objectives. Erin oversees all aspects of sustainability for Mattel with a particular focus on operations and supply chain\, to mitigate impacts from Mattel’s operations\, products\, and packaging. In December 2019\, Mattel announced a goal to achieve 100% recycled\, recyclable or bio-based plastics materials in both its products and packaging by 2030\, one of the most aggressive corporate goals focused on both products and packaging in the industry. \n \nWith over 12 years of experience in the environmental field Erin is an expert in corporate sustainability policy and strategic development. Prior to working for Mattel\, Erin spent 10 years at the Walt Disney Company in the Corporate Citizenship Environment and Conservation\, Integrated Supply Chain Management\, and Disney Consumer Products Corporate Citizenship departments. \nErin holds a B.A. in Environmental and Legal Studies from Brandeis University\, and a Master’s of Environmental Science and Management from the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California\, Santa Barbara.

DESCRIPTION:Explore the Flower World with Dr. David Shorter in the third lecture of our Plant Worlds Ethnobotany Seminar Series \nThe Flower World was referenced in the pottery\, codices\, murals\, songs\, myths\, and ceremonies across Mesoamerica. Contemporary Indigenous communities continue to speak of\, about\, and from this powerful realm of healing and sacrifice. Are we simply seeing a Utopianism that spread across the Americas and across thousands of years? Or\, as Dr. Shorter suggests\, might the Flower World be a living\, present indication of a multiverse\, best understood ontologically and inter-dimensionally? \nDr. David Shorter is a Professor of World Arts and Cultures/Dance at UCLA . He is also the Director of the Archive of Healing\, an online database of healing approaches from around the globe. His talk will feature a forthcoming essay that he co-wrote with Yoeme elder\, Felipe Molina\, a long-time collaborator.
