SUMMARY:AltaSea Open House: Hydrogen's Role in a Sustainable Future
DESCRIPTION:“Hydrogen’s Role in a Sustainable Future” will offer insider knowledge on the potential of this molecule and its role in redefining energy. Enjoy a morning of insight and exploration with two industry experts. \nREGISTER HERE \nFeatured Speakers\nTakehito Yokoo\, CEO of Jozen Power LLC\, holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Hosei University. He began his career at Toyota Motor Corporation in 1981. In 1990\, he moved to the U.S. with Toyota Technical Center USA\, where he managed powertrain systems development\, mainly Toyota Hybrid\, Battery EV and especially in the area of Hydrogen Fuel Cell. He launched the world first OME Hydrogen Fuel Cell heavy duty truck demonstration in Port of Los Angeles drayage operation in 2017. In 2021\, he became the first chairperson of the Japan Hydrogen Forum (JH2F)\, promoting U.S. decarbonization efforts in collaboration with major Japanese companies\, businesses and government entities like JETRO and the Consulate-General of Japan. \nLiam Hurley\, vice president of engineering with The Adept Group Inc. (ADEPT)\, has gained deep technical knowledge of mechanical\, electrical\, and fluid systems in his academic and professional career. Liam graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 2020. Then\, as a Responsible Engineer at SpaceX\, he introduced multiple new products for launch vehicles\, satellites\, and spacecraft\, acting as design engineer\, project manager\, and supporting launches and production. Liam returned ADEPT in 2023 to apply his creativity and technical aptitude to challenges in renewables and sustainable energy\, a cause he holds dear. As Vice President of Engineering at ADEPT\, Liam has developed hydrogen technology projects\, often as part of microgrids in and around Southern California ports. He has acquired a broad perspective on hydrogen technologies’ strengths\, weaknesses\, safety considerations\, and beneficial impacts on air pollution and climate change in the mass transit and maritime industries. \nAltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles is a leader in the blue economy that strives towards sustainable and responsible use of ocean resources to promote economic growth\, improve livelihoods\, and ensure the health of ocean ecosystems to address environmental and social challenges within our communities.
