Earth Day Extravaganza

On Earth Day, April 22, the USAC Facilities Commission (FAC) will be hosting an Earth Day Extravaganza in collaboration with UCLA Sustainability and many partner organizations who will be featuring their work to better UCLA’s campus and the greater LA area in relation to sustainability and environmentalism.
The festival is set to take place in Wilson Plaza from 12-5 PM with various booths and activities throughout the day.
On the music and entertainment front, we will be featuring various performances as well from different bands and cultural groups to keep participants and passerbys engaged, including The Last Minutes.
In terms of food, we will be hosting food trucks to provide free vegetarian food to students in an effort to encourage a healthier and more sustainable diet for Bruins. There will be a green food demonstration by UCLA’s teaching kitchen to further provide inspiration on cooking green and sustainably for students to pull from and take with them into their everyday lives.
For more artistic activities, we will be hosting block printing, embroidery, and tote bag making to decorate shirts and totes to promote reusability and discourage fast fashion in everyday use by revamping old goods to spruce up and reinvent.
For booths, we will be featuring a variety of different organizations to provide resources related to sustainable living practices, including BruinDine to cover their food recovery events, Good Clothes Good People to host a clothing drive, Swipe Out Hunger to give out seed bombs, Sustainagoals from FAC to feature their own junk journal making, and many more! We will also be featuring booths from ASUCLA to promote their Sambazaon Reusables and Reuzzi reusable mug program in the Kerckhoff cafe, as well as Veggie Grill. Additionally, we will have a space for e-waste collection as well.
