Webinar – Natural Disasters and Community Well-Being: A 360-Degree View of Health, Wealth, and Environmental Justice in the Wake of Los Angeles County Wildfires

March 20 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join the Latina Futures 2050 Lab on March 20, for a discussion on community-led response to natural disasters examining the intersection of community preservation, environmental justice, and systemic inequality. This event will feature the voices of key experts and community leaders working on the ground to address the multifaceted challenges posed by these catastrophic events.

The panel will explore the essential roles that community-based organizations, mutual aid networks, and trusted messengers play in relief, recovery, and resilience-building efforts in a climate of uncertainty and political polarization. The discussion will highlight not only the direct environmental impacts—such as devastating air quality issues and post-fire health concerns—but also how these disasters disproportionately affect marginalized communities, including immigrant workers, domestic laborers, and generations of BIPOC families that sought refuge from systemic oppression.
