Moving out? With some simple planning, you can help not only reduce your carbon footprint but also repurpose your usable items! UCLA students can donate unwanted and gently used household items, including furniture, and also sustainably discard bulky items as part of the 2nd annual UCLA Sustainable Bruin Move Out. Partnering with local nonprofits and government entities, UCLA will host sustainable move out events on-campus on Wednesday, June 11 and off-campus on Thursday, June 12. To volunteer for on or off campus move out events, sign up with the Volunteer Center.

On Campus Sustainable BruIN MoveOUT
Wednesday, June 11, 2025 – 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
UCLA students who reside on-campus in residence halls will be able to donate small gently used dorm supplies, clothes, old electronics, and more for future Bruins. Residence Halls will host donation boxes in lobby areas and in front of select dorm buildings for donation of your gently used household items. The items collected on the Hill will be made available for new students to purchase when they move into the dorms and apartments in the Fall. Students donating items will also receive a voucher for a discount at next fall’s thrift sale. (View flyer for more information).
Off Campus Sustainable Bruin Move Out
Thursday, June 12, 2025 – 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
UCLA students who reside off-campus in the North Westwood Village will be able to donate and/or dispose of their unwanted bulky items at three locations throughout the neighborhood. These drop-off locations will provide opportunities to donate gently used items to nonprofit organizations. The locations will also serve as waste disposal zones for those items that cannot be repurposed. Volunteers will be on hand to help determine if items can be donated or need to be discarded. (View flyer for more information).
