Dr. Theresa Ambo will give a talk titled “Moving Beyond Land Acknowledgements.” Formal land acknowledgments are an evolving practice designed to recognize local Indigenous Peoples and lands. Despite this uptake, land acknowledgements remain understudied and often misunderstood with regard to purpose, tone, responsibility, significance for educational equity, and implications for the measurable support of local Indigenous communities named in these statements.
